Boat Rental FAQs
Do I need a license to drive a boat?
Nope! You need to be at least 21 to
rent a boat with us, but no special licensing is
required for powerboat rentals.
Are your boats safe?
Our boats are kept in top condition
at all times. They are properly registered, inspected
and licensed with New York State. All safety equipment,
including life jackets for adults and children, is
included in the rental. By law, all our rental boats
are virtually unsinkable, but we go the extra mile to be
sure they are clean, comfortable and safe for you and
Is boating on Lake George easy?
Lake George is very easy to
navigate. It is extremely well marked with appropriate
buoys and markers. With no rising tides or shifting
sandbars, the underwater topography is stable and
unmoving. There are no surprises when it comes to
obstructions, as long as you are watchful and heed the
markers. As with driving a car, boating safety depends
mostly on the driver. Using sound judgment and having a
cautious attitude will help ensure a safe and enjoyable
ride for everyone. Our experienced staff will ensure
you are properly equipped for a safe solo trip on the
lake. First-timers are our specialty – we don’t let you
go until we’re sure you’re ready.
What is there to do by boat?
You don’t have to stay behind the
wheel the whole time, you know! There are picnic
islands where you get a private site with fireplace,
picnic table, charcoal grill and dock space. Grab a
bundle of wood and pack a lunch. Can’t you smell the
fire and hear the crackling wood? Lunch, a swim to cool
off, a campfire to warm up again, and then jump back in
the boat for more fun! Or take one of our
complimentary tubes and have a blast towing each other
around the lake. How about hiking to the top of Black
Mountain, followed by a picnic under the pavilion and a
swim at the beach there? With public docks available in
Lake George Village, the restaurants, shops and arcades
will provide a nice diversion as well. Cliff diving,
volleyball in Log Bay, mooring in Sandy Bay for a great
swim, a slow cruise through the beauty of the islands
and Paradise Bay – there’s no end to how you can enjoy a
day on the lake!
